IKGA President, Grandmaster Goshi Yamaguchi is the teacher of TKC Founder - Michael Buttermark, Shihan. TKC's founder lived/trained/taught karatedo in Tokyo for nearly 4 years in the late 1980s.
Our curriculum is authentic and effective because the way we instruct: technically, theoretically, and philosophically. TKC students don't just learn to COPY moves. They learn correct, traditional, karate-do technique, its purpose, and to discern good technique from bad.

The Karate Kid movies may have sparked your interest but TKC can fulfill and exceed your karate dreams. We teach Goju-Ryu Karatedo founded by legendary master, Chojun Miyagi of Okinawa.
Full IKGA, Japanese Goju-Ryu Karatedo curriculum is taught - kihon/ido, kata/bunkai, yakusoku/kumite, Japanese terminology and dojo decorum are taught technically, theoretically, and philosophically.

To date, TKC athletes have engaged IKGA international events at these international locations: Chiba, Tokyo & Matsuyama JAPAN; Perth AUSTRALIA; Sao Paulo BRAZIL; Santiago & Pirque CHILE; Edmonton, Calgary & Vancouver CANADA; Rotterdam HOLLAND; and Mumbai INDIA.
Our national team will travel to Chicago in July 2019 for the National Championship and USA Junior Karate Team trials. And, our international team will travel to Tokyo in 2021 for the 8th IKGA Global Championship. Get on our team this year!
